This course is designed to fulfill the annual mortgage loan originator continuing education requirement in California, which requires eight hours of continuing education. The first seven chapters meet the national continuing education requirements, with Chapter Eight fulfilling the national and California-specific requirements. Each unit fulfills one hour of education (approximately 50 minutes with 20 minutes allowed for the final exam).
The required three hours of federal laws and regulation are fulfilled by studying the Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act (RESPA) in Chapter One, along with The Do Not Call Registry in Chapter Two, and the Regulatory Review and Preview in Chapter Three. The required two hours of ethics are fulfilled by studying The Adjustable Rate Mortgage in Chapter Four and the Statement on Subprime Lending in Chapter Five. The required two hours of training related to lending standards for the nontraditional mortgage product marketplace are fulfilled by the Fair Lending Report and Fair Lending Case Studies in Chapter Six and Chapter Seven. The final hour, Chapter Eight, focuses on the California state-specific requirements, as designated by the California Department of Business Oversight.
